About
The Kibbutz Ex Volunteer Association was founded
in April 2000 by a group of local ex kibbutz volunteers with the idea of
building stronger and personal relations between Australia and Israel.
The Kibbutz Ex Volunteer Association is
based on friendship, which we believe is the underlying force of goodwill
between societies.
The Association promotes
Israeli culture in the wider region. Notable achievements, with the
support of the Embassy of Israel in Canberra, were the convening in Wollongong
of:
• A Civic reception for the Consul
General of Israel, Mr. Ephraim Matityahu (2000);
• The visit to the University of Wollongong
by the Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Naphtalie Tamir to open The Bible Miniature
Art Exhibition (2005);
• The Shai Ginott exhibition From the
Beginning at Wollongong City Council (2001);
• The Albert Einstein exhibition at the
Wollongong Science Centre (2002);
• The Silver Garburg piano duo at the
Wollongong Conservatorium and Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (2004);
• The Galilee Multicultural Theatre
performing Neighbours at The Project (2005).
• The annual
Israeli Film Festival in
Wollongong since 2001 which is the oldest such festival in
Australia.
In August 2011, the Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Yuval Rotem opened
the
10th Israeli Film Festival in Wollongong.
